The junior coach, who accused Haryana Sports Minister and former Indian Hockey captain Sandeep Singh of sexual harassment, has alleged that Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is trying to influence the probe.
“I heard the Chief Minister’s statement this morning, in which the Chief Minister himself is taking the side of Sandeep Singh. Until the minister resigns, it would be a matter of bias,” the woman told reporters after appearing before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Chandigarh Police on Tuesday.
She alleged that the Haryana Police were trying to put pressure on her. ” The Chandigarh Police did not put any pressure on me. Haryana Police is trying to pressurize me,” she was quoted by ANI.
Meanwhile, the woman’s advocate Dipanshu Bansal said they handed over her phone to the police. “Questions have been answered for the last eight hours. Whatever records my client had, we have already handed over to the police. The phone has also been given to the police. She was questioned for the fourth time,” Bansal said.
The advocate further added, “We will give 2 or 3 days time to the police for arresting Sandeep Singh. We will get the statement of 164 recorded by Tuesday itself.”
Her statement comes days after the woman alleged the Haryana Minister of sexual misconduct when she visited his official residence in Chandigarh. Singh is a BJP MLA from Pehowa in Kurukshetra.
Soon after the allegation surfaced, Manohar Lal Khattar had taken away the Sports portfolio from Sandeep Singh.
According to the woman, Singh would send her messages on Instagram and Snapchat. The incident happened on July 1, 2022, when Singh contacted her on Instagram, asking her to visit his official residence in Sector 7 at Chandigarh. He said it was for “verification of documents.” The complainant added that this was regarding her national games certificate which has been misplaced by the federation. She added that she had taken up the certificate issue with the government.
When she visited his official residence in Sector 7, Chandigarh, for verification of documents, Singh tried to molest her, the woman alleged. “My T-shirt was torn. I managed to push him aside and ran out of the room as the door was unlocked,” she added.
